Estate maintenance, clearance and cleaning, furniture and white goods recycling & more
We provide estate maintenance services to ten Registered Social Landlords across seven local authority areas, and close cleaning services to West Dunbartonshire Council.
We also recycle textiles and used household goods, including white goods, which we collect from void properties and through bulky uplifts. Our target for recycling this year is 600 tonnes but we hope to reach over 3,000 tonnes within three years.
All our profits are invested in our training programmes and in developing employment opportunities.
Recycling and training centre
We have been awarded technical support from the Big Lottery to develop a recycling and training centre within West Dunbartonshire, with a view to having the build phase complete in May 2011. This centre will provide a base for the training and employment for young people within the area.
The centre aims to divert over 3,000 tonnes of material from landfill every year and provide low-cost household goods to those who most need them – for example, those on low incomes and those being re-housed from homelessness.
Aims and ambitions
1. We want to ensure unemployed young people have access to training and employment opportunities. We aim to:
- engage an additional four young people in modern apprenticeships.
- engage 20 young people in two SVQ programmes.
- ensure two staff are qualified SVQ assessors.
2. We want young people to have increased confidence and significantly higher aspirations. With this in mind, we will:
- Establish a training and study suite for young people where they can receive help and support for their future development.
- Work with the Hunter Institute and Caledonian University to establish a route into tertiary education for trainees with a view to developing our own management.
- Establish individual plans for young people which help them to assess their own progress and identify options for further development.
3. We want people on low incomes and those moving from homelessness to a permanent tenancy to feel better supported
4. Finally, we aim to divert increasing tonnages of household goods from landfill every month, with a target of 3,000 tonnes a year by March 2012.
